Tool making as an art has never been more obvious than the form and function of the HP-9v2 Dual Angle Block Plane. This beautifully crafted, dual-angle block plane has several distinguishing features making it one of the most interesting products in our history of tool making.
Harmonious Designs
By eliminating the traditional cross pin found in most antique and contemporary metal bodied planes, we were able to design the body to fit hands of all sizes.

The matching of components’ multiple
colors will present you an enjoyment of aesthetics.

The solid, stainless steel investment cast rear tote fits palms perfectly, creating a harmonious design that differs greatly in appearance from the traditional block planes based upon early European designs.
The Four-Linkage Mechanism
for Blade Tension
The blade tension is achieved with a four-linkage mechanism. Moving the cap downward until it snaps will tighten the blade.
The components of this four-linkage mechanism are CNC machined from solid aluminum and anodized to achieve the extraordinary finish.

Iron Adjustment
Both cutting depth and iron angle can be adjusted by the lead screw easily and precisely.
Minimized Backlash

Depth of Cut Precise to
0.01mm (0.0004”) Increment
The blade is adjusted with a modified Norris
mechanism allowing for extremely fine blade advancement.

There are five semi-circular cuts milled around the lead screw knob, which achieves incredibly small incremental adjustments. Rotating one knurled section to one of the semi-circular cuts next to it will increase/decrease the cut depth by 0.01mm (0.0004”).

Becoming a Thickness Plane

Some of the more obvious uses for this functionality are shoji screen components, jewelry boxes, inlay strips, and other projects where precise thin material is required. The HP-9v2 Dual Angle Block Plane is the only block plane available today with this capability.
Dual Faces Fence

The HP-9v2 Dual Angle Block Plane also features a guide fence. By attaching two fence posts to either side and attaching the guide fence, you can plane square edges and 45-degree faces, which allows woodworkers with less skill, or disabilities to achieve accurate results.
